If you are a resident of or own property in Vernon Township, or are a student or teacher at the Mount Vernon Community School System, you are eligible for a card. Please bring your identification and proof of residence to the library in order to obtain a library card. We have reciprocal borrowing agreements with Pendleton Public Library and Hancock County Public Library. Patrons served by these libraries will also need to bring in their home library card.
You can access information about your account by logging in to your Evergreen Account. My Account includes contact information, items you have checked out or on hold, your fines, preferences for Evergreen, and Lists. Each of the sections in the My Account area is described below.
We offer digital items through OverDrive and Hoopla!
You can check out items on OverDrive on any internet browser and through the Libby App on your phone. Download the Libby App from the Apple Store or on Google Play. On a computer, visit the Indiana Digital Library on idl.overdrive.com for our OverDrive items or go to libbyapp.com to download the Libby App.
Our Library is a member of Evergreen Indiana, a consortium of more than 100 libraries located throughout Indiana. The list of Evergreen Indiana member libraries that accept an VTPL library card can be found here:
If the item is not available through Evergreen, we will try to obtain it through Interlibrary Loan. Patrons may also recommend items that have been recently released, or will soon-be-released by completing the Purchase Recommendation form.
All library cards expire after a certain timeframe. Resident accounts are good for 2 years. Please visit the library with your photo-ID and library card to renew.
All other accounts (reciprocal borrowers, non-residents, and students) are good for 1 year. Please visit the library with your account specific requirements to renew (i.e., student ID, Pendleton/Hancock County library cards, etc.).
