Site Plan Option 1

The first option is at 602 Vitality Drive, located at the western edge of Fortville. At this site, the Library would share space with the Vernon Township Trustee. The land would be donated and the Library would be able to utilize approximately 4,000 square feet of existing space to repurpose into meeting rooms that would be shared between the Library and the Trustee. This site has an existing parking lot that could be used by the Library.

The Township Trustee site also includes an expanded community garden to the south, which would offer space for library programming.

Representatives for the Town of Fortville indicated they would apply for READI 2.0 and OCRA grants on behalf of the Library. The Redevelopment Commission for the town has also indicated they would support using TIF funds to help with elements of the project. The Library and Town will continue to explore all of these funding opportunities.

Site Plan Option 2

The second option is in McCord Square, a 48-acre planned mixed-use development that will become the heart of McCordsville. At this site, the Library would purchase a parcel of land in the development. The exact cost of the land is still to be determined, but would likely be available at a discounted price to the Library. This site has ample room for future growth and a large parking lot.

The McCord Square site includes a central green space just at the edge of the Library site. This space will be used to host events and as a gathering space for the community. The Library will be able to use this space for programming.

Representatives for the Town of McCordsville are actively pursuing a READI 2.0 grant to help fund the Central Green and would include the Library in their grant application to cover land aquisition and site improvements. Any money not spent on land aquisition or site improvements would enable the Library to build a larger facility in Phase 1. The Library and Town will continue to explore this grant opportunity.
